Filter Bags, Cartridges & Housings

Image
Filter Bags, Cartridges & Housings Key applications There are many different industries that make use of filter bag technologies . These include both process and nuisance dust collection. The major factors driving the bag filter technologies in the market include environmental and safety regulations tied to a reduction in air pollution and the rapid growth of cement and mining industries. With regard to collection, the type of technology is influenced by the type of dust generated in the facility. Particle size will help determine the number of filters and most appropriated filter media for the application. Common applications range from food production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, woodworking, and metalworking to energy utilities, chemicals, mining, cement and many more. Technology development As a technology, the baghouse has been around for a long time. In my opinion, new filter materials, finishes and composites are the most interesting and compelling aspects in the bag ...

How to Choose? Bag Filter Housing vs. Cartridge Filter Housing

Image
How to Choose? Bag Filter Housing vs. Cartridge Filter Housing A filter housing is a metal or plastic casing that holds either a filter bag or a filter cartridge. There are many uses for bag housings and cartridge housings in the industrial filtration world and both impact the way that liquids and gases get filtered. However, it is important to understand the unique differences between the two housing types to ensure you select the best option for your application. In this post, we will breakdown the main differences between a bag filter housing and a cartridge filter housing so you can be certain you are choosing the correct solution for your filtration needs. Why use a Bag Filter Housing ? Bag filter housing can hold either a single bag or multiple filters bags. Liquid flows through the bags, leaving behind any large solids or debris. Filtration using a bag housing is a more affordable equipment investment. Bag filter systems are usually the more cost effective solution, as bag ho...

Types Of Filtration Systems Used For Wastewater Applications

Types Of Filtration Systems Used For Wastewater Applications The liquid filtration process is an important step in various applications that reuse water within systems. This article provides details on the types of filtration systems available and the benefits of each. Liquid filtration is a process that removes particles and other media of a certain size and larger from liquids. Removing these particles and debris from a wastewater system allows the water to be reused within that system. This type of filtration process is important for a number of different reasons. Reusing the filtered water allows companies to reduce their overall waste, lower their water use, and diminish possible chemical consumption. When it comes to industries such as the power sector, a considerable number of dissolved solids are typically found in discharged water. Within other systems, for example those in the paper industry, pulp left within wastewater can account for up to 1,000 ppm. The filters used for wa...

Liquid Filter Applications

Liquid Filter Applications Cartridge Filter with stainless steel material, anti-rust, anti-corrosion, anti-leakage Introduction to Liquid Filter Applications Liquid filtration applications are concerned with the filtration of either aqueous or hydrocarbon fluids. A large use of liquid filter media made from nonwovens and filter paper is in engine filtration applications. Engine filtration to include both air and liquid filtration is treated as a separate subject in later Chapter . The types of nonwovens used in nonautomotive liquid filter applications include needlefelts, paper sheets, filter papers, resin bonded paper, dry laid webs, and spunbond products. In liquid filtration there are also important applications for nonwoven supported membrane filters. Large scale liquid filtration is accomplished mostly by cake filtration. Many forms of filter equipment use a filter fabric to support the cake. Often, the fabric is a woven filter cloth; however there are applications where th...

Carbon Nanotubes: the Next Generation of Global Water Purification?

Sustainable Nano My typical day (maybe like yours) involves waking up, taking a 10 minute shower, cooking breakfast, running the dishwasher if it’s full, going to work, eating dinner with a refreshing glass of filtered water , and maybe tackling a load of laundry in the evening. None of these actions feel extravagant, but when I look at statistics of global water usage and the lack of fresh water availability, it’s obvious that as Americans, we consume significantly more gallons of water per day than anywhere else in the world. In fact, on average each American uses about 152 gallons of water daily, while people in some other countries such as Uganda and Haiti use only about 4 gallons. That extreme low usage in some countries is not just because people are very conservation-minded – it is largely because there is not enough clean water to go around. Living in Wisconsin, I am conscientious of my water intake, but I am fortunate to not be in constant fear of turning on the faucet t...
